On Saturday 7 November 2026, Fairfield Halls in Croydon will welcome Jamaica Love to the Ashcroft Theatre for its final London performance of the 2026 season.

Nominated for Best Musical Production at the Black British Theatre Awards, the uplifting production celebrates the enduring legacy of Windrush through powerful storytelling, humour, and the unforgettable sounds of Jamaica.

Written and directed by Mervyn Weir, Jamaica Love explores themes of identity, resilience and community through a vibrant blend of theatre and live music. Audiences can look forward to performances from legendary vocalist John McLean, Celia Wickham-Anderson of Black Voices, and a sensational live band performing ska, rocksteady and reggae classics throughout the evening.

The production will also shine a spotlight on Croydon's rich cultural diversity, featuring participation from local Black and Caribbean community organisations such as the Windrush Generation Legacy Association. Strengthening its local connection even further, the show's music director is proudly Croydon-based, bringing a unique community perspective to a production that celebrates the lasting impact and influence of Jamaican culture across generations.

Mervyn Weir, Writer and Director of Jamaica Love, shared;

“Returning to the Ashcroft Theatre for the third year feels like coming home. Croydon audiences bring a warmth and energy that lifts the whole company, and the team at Fairfield Halls always makes us welcome, so there’s nowhere we’d rather close our 2026 season. Audiences will also enjoy a special guest appearance from Terence Wallen, the “New Cool Ruler”, who played Gregory Isaacs in The Cool Ruler: The Musical.”

As one of South London's leading cultural venues, Fairfield Halls is proud to champion a diverse programme of music, theatre and live entertainment. Home to resident orchestra London Mozart Players and resident theatre company Talawa Theatre Company, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the venue continues to provide a platform for productions that reflect and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Croydon and beyond.
