Following a string of sold-out performances and standing ovations, hit production Jamaica Love returns to Fairfield Halls this November, bringing the heart and soul of Jamaica to Croydon.

Written and directed by Mervyn Weir and nominated for Best Musical Production at the Black British Theatre Awards, Jamaica Love blends uplifting storytelling with Jamaica’s world-famous music, from ska and rocksteady to reggae.

The show features legendary performer John McLean singing his classic hits, the soulful harmonies of Celia Wickham-Anderson of Black Voices, and a powerhouse live band. Together, they bring Jamaica’s rich musical heritage to life in a production that celebrates the island’s culture, identity and enduring connection with Britain.

Exploring the legacy of the Windrush generation, Jamaica Love places Jamaican voices and experiences at the heart of the story. The production celebrates the resilience, creativity and cultural influence of Jamaican communities, while honouring the music and traditions that continue to connect generations on both sides of the Atlantic.

As writer and director Mervyn Weir says: “The lions are telling the story this time. For too long, the story of Jamaica and Jamaicans has been told through other people’s eyes. This production puts the narrative back where it belongs, told by Jamaicans, in our own words, with our own music, culture, and perspective.”

Audiences are also invited to discover Mervyn Weir’s artistic talents beyond the stage through an exhibition of his artwork. Known primarily for his theatre work, Weir’s art offers another expression of his storytelling, exploring Jamaican history, culture and identity through vivid and layered imagery.
