Fairfield Halls, Croydon’s premier arts venue, is delighted to reveal that the acclaimed musical Blood Brothers will take to the stage for a weeklong run in April 2027. This internationally celebrated production will be accompanied by a limited allocation of student and group-rate tickets, offering wider access to one of theatre’s most enduring and powerful shows.
Written by acclaimed playwright Willy Russell and produced by Bill Kenwright Ltd, Blood Brothers follows the heartbreaking story of twin boys separated at birth and raised on opposite sides of the social divide - only to be drawn back together with devastating consequences.
With its gripping narrative, unforgettable score and powerhouse performances, Blood Brothers remains one of the longest‑running and most beloved musicals in theatre history. This new production brings all the emotion, humour and dramatic intensity which has captivated audiences for more than three decades.
This is an ideal opportunity for English and Drama departments to give their students access to one of the most powerful and curriculum‑relevant works in modern theatre. A cornerstone text for GCSE English Literature, seeing the play live offers students a rare opportunity to deepen their understanding of its structure, language and emotional power.
The production enriches classroom study by bringing to life the play’s central themes, including social class, fate, nature versus nurture, and the cycle of violence, as well as its iconic characters - Mickey, Eddie, Mrs Johnstone and Mrs Lyons.
To support schools, a limited number of student tickets are available for the matinee performances on Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 April, with group‑rate tickets also offered for larger bookings.
Fairfield Halls is operated by registered charity and social enterprise BH Live in partnership with Croydon Council.
On behalf of BH Live, Nicola Coney, Entertainments and Events Manager said;
“It’s fantastic to offer such an iconic show to schools and support students’ learning with reduced‑rate tickets. It’s a great opportunity to come to Fairfield Halls, be immersed in live performance as we continue to bring a diverse line‑up of shows to our venues.”
Running at Fairfield Halls from Monday 26 April to Saturday 1 May 2027, the production features Russell’s celebrated score, including “Bright New Day,” “Marilyn Monroe,” and the show‑stopping “Tell Me It’s Not True.” Next April’s run brings a first‑class West End cast to Croydon, promising a theatrical experience that will strengthen students’ analytical skills, empathy, and cultural capital.
School-rate tickets are available for the following matinee performances; tickets are £19 each, with a £3 transaction fee per school order:
- Wednesday 28 April 2.30pm
- Thursday 29 April 2.30pm
