DI Prodigal Pickney
Fairfield Ashcroft Theatre
UK, get ready for the Big Man – Oliver Samuels! The King of Caribbean Comedy is back with what might just be his best play yet – a blockbuster special for Black History Month!
DI Prodigal Pickney is a heartfelt tale inspired by the biblical story of the Prodigal Son, exploring themes of forgiveness, acceptance, and the enduring bonds of family.
Written by Oliver himself, this hilarious new comedy promises non-stop laughter from start to finish.
Ephraim Henry (Tesfa Edwards), the elder son of the Henry family, finds himself on the wrong side of the tracks, much to the shock and dismay of his father, Jonas (Oliver Samuels)
Jonas, who has spoiled Ephraim from birth under the guise of love for his "firstborn boy," inadvertently sows seeds of discord within the family. His favouritism leaves his younger son, Thomas, questioning whether he was adopted.
Miriam Henry (Karen Harriot), the family matriarch, is constantly striving to maintain balance and calm within the household. Despite her efforts, Ephraim's behaviour spirals out of control, leading him to unimaginable actions. He leaves home, squanders everything he has, and is left out in the cold, forsaken by society.
Can Ephraim find the courage to ask for forgiveness? Will he be accepted back into the family fold? These questions and many more will be answered when you come to see DI Prodigal Pickney.
With a formidable supporting cast featuring Tesfa Edwards, and Karen Harriot.
This is one you don't want to miss – a night of unforgettable jokes, big belly laughs, and classic Caribbean vibes!
