West End and television favourite Lee Mead is set to headline The Phantoms - a thrilling celebration of musical theatre’s greatest hits - coming to Fairfield Halls, Croydon, on Friday 26 September.
This spectacular one-night-only performance promises a spine-tingling journey through some of the most iconic musicals of all time. The Phantoms unites a powerhouse cast of former Phantoms from the West End production of The Phantom of the Opera, joined by Mead, who shot to fame after winning BBC One’s Any Dream Will Do and went on to star as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
From that point, his career soared, landing him roles in major nationwide touring shows such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Chicago, as well as West End productions of We Will Rock You, Wicked, and, most recently, Sister Act. His stage success opened doors to the small screen as well, with appearances in popular BBC dramas including Holby City and Casualty making him a much-loved household name, even outside of the theatre-sphere.
But ultimately known for his captivating stage presence and velvet vocals, Mead returns to his theatrical roots for a show packed with unforgettable melodies, theatrical flair, and a heartfelt homage to the musicals that have enchanted audiences for generations.
Expect a sweeping musical voyage through legendary shows including Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph, and, naturally, the timeless grandeur of The Phantom of the Opera. From Broadway blockbusters to West End masterpieces, the show is a rich celebration of musical theatre at its finest.
In a touching twist, audiences will also hear the inspiring story of Lee Mead’s own rise to fame - from his early days in the wings of The Phantom of the Opera to becoming a familiar face on British TV screens. His natural warmth and charm bring an added layer of intimacy to an already dazzling evening.
