Natalia Subbotina

Natalia Subbotina was born in Kyiv. She started playing the cello at the age of six and in 2007 became the laureate of the “New names of Ukraine” competition.

Natalia received her musical education at the National Music Academy of Ukraine and continued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in pr. Jeroen Reuling’s class. After obtaining her Master of Arts Honours degree, she followed postgraduate studies with pr.Viviane Spanoghe. During the studies, she participated in many master classes with renowned cellists, such as Gary Hoffman, Natalia Gutman, François Guye, Erkki Lahesmaa and David Waterman. She also performed in various chamber music concerts in Belgium, France and Germany.

In the year 2018 Natalia was a member of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra.

She currently works at the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine which she joined in 2019.

In May-July 2022 she took part in a charity initiative in support of Ukraine under the patronage of the Emigration Project ASBL and became the co-founder of the Ukrainian String Quartet.
