Croydon Symphonic Band

Fresh from their success at the finals of the National Concert Band Festival in Manchester, Croydon Symphonic Band (CSB) present their 53rd annual summer concert at Fairfield Halls.
In addition to the Last Night of the Proms favourite “Fantasia on British Sea Songs” by Henry Wood, the programme includes possibly Percy Graingers most famous composition, “English Country Gardens” and the entertaining, “The Padstow Lifeboat” by Malcolm Arnold. Gustav Holst’s, “Second Suite in F” includes the Fantasia on the Dargason, including Greensleeves, and there is film music, “Dartmoor 1912” by John Williams from the film War Horse.
No CSB concert would be complete without music by one of CSB’s favourite British composers Philip Sparke. Included in the concert is his “Yorkshire Overture” and the magnificent “Hymn of the Highlands” which the Band performed at the NCBF in Manchester.
