Twist Helix at Cro Cro Land Festival 2022, Fairfield Halls

Originally hailing from Alicante and Newcastle, Twist Helix make a synth-heavy crossover between indie and pop music that feels beguilingly cutting-edge. Bea Garcia, Matthew Barron and James Walker destroy genre boundaries and blend eras of music with ease, creating an unmistakable sound by fusing 80s synth work, distinctive vocal hooks, arena-sized melodies and a driving indie disco rhythm section.

Known for their euphoric live energy and intelligent recorded works, the Ibero-Geordie alt-popsters have been championed by the likes of Planet Rock, Radio3 Nacional Spain, BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio.

The band’s latest album Machinery found praise from Louder Than War applauding its "angsty, synth-heavy send-ups to sexism and to the music industry" with Echoes and Dust calling it "one of the most infectious and diverse albums of the year".
