Anna Crawford – Cello
Anna is a second-year undergraduate scholar at the Royal College of Music, studying cello with Melissa Phelps. Prior to this, Anna studied with Julia Desbruslais. Her highlights as a soloist include performances of the Elgar Cello Concerto with Bromley Youth Symphony Orchestra and Kent Concert Orchestra and the Haydn D Major Cello Concerto in Rochester Cathedral. She has performed in recitals at Egerton House and Ashford Parish Church.
Anna is very active in both chamber music and orchestral playing at RCM and recently toured Russia and Britain with the Britten Shostakovich Festival Orchestra. In 2018 she was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
Anna has performed in masterclasses with cellists including Gemma Rosefield, Guy Johnston and most recently with Hannah Roberts. She won the Rotary South East Region Young Musician of the Year, followed by runner-up in the Rotary National Young Musician of the Year 2017, and was the 2018 recipient of the Peter Rogers Music Scholarship.
Most recently, Anna was awarded first prize in the 2019 RCM Cello Competition and the North London Festival Premier Challenge String Prize.
Anna is currently preparing for a performance with the London Mozart Players at their Cellofest and for a solo recital at St John the Evangelist.
Ana Manastireanu – Piano
Romanian pianist Ana Manastireanu is currently a Kenneth and Violet Scott Scholar of the Royal College of Music in London, where she is studying towards a Masters of Performance in Collaborative Piano with Kathron Sturrock, Simon Lepper and Roger Vignoles.
Ana has recently been selected as a 2019 Leeds Lieder Young Artist and won the Accompanist Prize in the AESS Courtney Kenny Award. She was a Scholar of the 2019 International Summer Academy for Chamber Music Niedersachsen in Germany and a Fellow of the 2018 Toronto Chamber Music Institute. Her recent collaborations include performances with Jonathan Crow, Scott St. John, Andrew Wan, Ani Aznavoorian and Marcin Sieniawski.
She has participated in masterclasses with Sir Thomas Allen, Malcolm Martineau, Angelika Kirchschlager, Yoheved Kaplinsky, André Laplante, Kathryn Stott, Ian Brown, Lilya Zilberstein, Pedja Mužijević, Pavel Gililov and Edna Golandsky, amongst others.
Ana’s international competition successes include top prizes at the “Rosario Marciano” International Piano Competition in Austria and the “Carl Filtsch” International Piano Competition in Romania, as well as being a semi-finalist of the Orford Award in Canada.
