Gramophone MagazineThe London Mozart Players (LMP) are the UK’s longest established chamber orchestra and over the past seventy years have developed an outstanding reputation for adventurous, ambitious programming from Baroque through to genre-crossing contemporary music. LMP has enjoyed a long history of association with many of the world’s finest artists including Sir James Galway, Dame Felicity Lott, Jane Glover, Howard Shelley, John Suchet and Simon Callow.
LMP accepted the invitation to become Resident Orchestra at Fairfield Halls in 1988, and has since become embedded in the community, performing at venues all over the borough. They are delighted to resume residency at Fairfield and look forward to bringing the best in classical music to this exceptional venue.
LMP is the only professional orchestra in the UK to be managed both operationally and artistically by the players, and it has enjoyed the patronage of HRH The Earl of Wessex since 1988.
In light of the recent events around COVID-19, our resident orchestra London Mozart Players launched ‘At Home With LMP’, an initiative that will help keep you connected to their music by going virtual.
‘At Home With LMP’ will allow anyone to access and enjoy performances by LMP musicians and associated artists virtually, with a whole catalogue of daily musical treats to keep the music playing throughout the pandemic.
From ‘Mozart Mondays’ where LMP musicians and guest artists will unpack and explore a new work by Mozart each week, to ‘Saturday Sessions’ where exclusive solo performances will be live-broadcast by musicians who may be self-isolating, there will be no shortage of uplifting musical relief from our resident orchestra.
Visit the LMP website to see all the latest releases.
“The LMP has changed and evolved over those years, but has remained true to its founder’s values. It retains a pioneering approach to programming classical music; it continues to perform with flair, integrity and focus.”
